« Why I Buy Pizza from PizzaPizza »

No - it’s not because it’s good. On a good day, it’s mediocre.  On a bad day, it’s delivered overcooked and even the dog has a hard time choking down the crusts.
No, I buy Pizza Pizza because they have a reasonable online order application.

I would LOVE to buy pizza from It Was a Rainy Day in Pizzaville.
Alas - their online order tool sucks crusts when it comes to being able to pair up an address with the nearest store.  It worked ok downtown, but it can’t figure out that I am 8 minutes from a franchise, now that I live north of the city.

I would LOVE to buy pizza from Dominos.
But they don’t even have an on-line ordering option! Aie! Wakey wakey….

I’d even go out on a limb and buy pizza from Pizza Hut…. I quite liked the cheese in the crust deal they used to offer. Again - no service for my area. Again - I can almost see the Pizza Hut. Pfft. No pizza from YOU!.

So - Pizza Pizza it is. Not because it’s good, but because they seem to be the only pizza chain who has their act together when it comes to on-line ordering. I’ll be damned if I’m going to support a pizza place who hasn’t got their web 2.0 game going on.

To the good pizza places….. hurry up and get your digital sh&t together. I’m getting hungry again!!

    Wow.

My 2 favourite pizza places haven't even heard of the internet.

And I'll keep ordering from them because they make good food.

You, my dear, are an odd duck.

    This is true. :)

This may shock you, but I've never actually ordered pizza online. Can I ask why online ordering is such a differentiator for you?

It's funny.... i've had to order a few meals by phone before, and I'm terrible at it. Some of the challenges are entirely my fault: I forget things, I forget to mention things - and no matter now many times I write everything down, invariably there is something forgotten ;-)

On the flip side, i find that ordering over the phone is frustrating:
    - wait times on hold
    - difficulties in undertanding accents over the phone
    - challenges with folks not understanding English, and having to repeat phone numbers and addresses 4-5 times

It's not unusual for it to take 10 minutes to order dinner over the phone for me ;-)

So - online ordering, no fuss, no muss, confirmation of exactly what i ordered, no frustration for me or the folks on the other side of the phone...
    :-)

If you have any interest in Swiss Chalet you should try their online ordering system. You can order in the morning and specify your delivery time at dinner. You can indicate whether you need utensils and napkins. It will even remember previous orders.

    It makes me so happy.

Oh Sarah - I love Swiss Chalet. I love the on-line ordering for swiss chalet. When I don't want crappy, overcooked, PizzaPizza, it's Swiss Chalet all the way ;-)

I order from Papa John's for the same reason. They keep my previous orders on file along with my address, so ordering online is faster than calling. That, together with the fact that I'm probably in front of my computer when I find myself craving some 'za.

They give you a ton of choices on your pizza, including crust and sauce selections. Thin crust is vastly preferable to thick. Lots of topping options.

Last order is remembered, great for always ordering your favourite pizza. Also, you can acrue points, which can be redeemed for food.

Thing is - we stayed with them because we like the pizza and the wings (baked, not fried), and the online is a nice bonus.
