« Jules' Dumb Move of the Day:  TVFreeload »

In desperation last night, after realizing that all my secret ports to download magic files had been blocked by my isp, i resorted to TVFreeload as a method (albeit a dodgey method) to download the few episodes of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice that my good ole' mum was missing.

(Backstory: I'd told her that I could PVR them for her, and burn her a disk. Bell allows archiving of recorded materials to an external HD.  Little did I know that the Bell PVR will reformat your external HD, and turn it into a storage drive for the PVR - when you try and attach it to a laptop to transfer the files, the laptop doesn't understand the formatting and gives up in a fit of confusion)

Anyways, I'd fallen for TVFreeload.com, (I'm not even going to acknowledge their existence). The first dozen or so screens made the service look fantastic, easy, fast. I fell for the membership (thank god it wasn't a ridiculous amount).
Once I'd finally been set up, my password only worked once. The searches essentially just checked regular torrent databases for files. I'd been hosed.
The site led you to believe that they had all the expisodes, movies etc that you could ever want to see.

Today, I can't get to the *member site* to download the software needed to take their files and burn to DVD. I can't log back into the search engines. I've tried to email to reset my password. No responses.
    Hosed. Really and truly.

    I am.... embarassed.
    Sigh.

TVFreeload isn't a scam at all. You just didn't do it right.

It's basically just a forum for people to post recorded shows. You don't have to pay anything to become a member. Go to the forums, create a login and search the forums for the program you want. Then you simply download the files from one of the online storage services that the posters use to store their files (usually in .rar compression format) No torrent software is required and in a few minutes you'll have your show to watch.

    Have fun!

I've downloaded several episodes of Lost. Video works fine but I I don't get any sound at all!
    I'm using RealPlayer.
    Any ideas?

I will back up what the poster MC said. TVFreeload is not a scam at all. Find their forum and you can join for free. I promise and assure you that it truly is amazing. They have almost every TV show you could ever ask for, from Lost to Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Leave it to Beaver to Miami Vice, along with a massive assortment of movies too.

Agreed... tvfreeload was only a 'scam' if you did the direct method. There were NO fees if you went to the forum. It was just like any other message board, the difference being users uploaded episodes to various file hosting sites and posted the links.

I hope it comes back up, it's been down for several days now. I have a silly feeling it's just gone though, probably for some kind of legal reasons.
