    « Taking a Step Backwards - Chevy Camaro - Welcome to the '70s. »

GM also says it still plans to begin manufacturing the new Chevrolet Camaro in Oshawa this year.

    WTF?
Unless the camaro is a hybrid, this is a ridiculous model to bring back.
The guys who wanted this car in the ’90s are now looking for hybrid minivan crossovers. The guys who (before the economic dust-up) would have bought this car are now worried about the security of their own jobs, and realize that if they even contemplated purchasing something so silly, their wives would be taking a well aimed kick at their cubes.

Who is going to buy this car?
Twelve years ago, this would have been an awesome car to buy. Now, you sort of look like a goof if that’s what you’re driving. :-(

Nice job GM, way to have your thumb on the consumer’s pulse.

20,000 pre-orders for the camaro before it even hits showrooms. I guess GM's fingers aren't quite as far off the pulse as you thought perhaps....

Wow, you are amazingly so far off from what is popular of our times. You must be one of those people that drive a prius and just waste money for what it really is. Say what you want but the car is a hot one of our time and is selling like hot cakes.

Back in Dec of 2008 they hit 10k orders..
    http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/30/gm-reports-10-000-camaro-pre-orders/

Now they are up to 20k orders.

I bet you bought a Yugo years ago and think made made global warming is for real. Current hybrids and electrics are P.C. nonsense. This Camaro gets 20-28 mpg and doesn't look like a bar of soap like everything else on the road. Get a life and get a real car !.

Looks like you're the one that is out of touch. This is a perfect example of a blogger talking out of his rear about something that they know nothing about. Try doing a little research before spouting off your opinions as if they're fact. If you want to get an education go to:

What everyone else forgot to mention is that the 20k preorders are without any advertising, and most people don't even know that the camaro is on sale.
    February 21, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterI LOLLED
What you fail to mention is that the V6 version will get as good or better EPA than most any import family sedan on the market, and far better than anything else offered by the big-3. There's nothing wrong with blogging an opinion, but it's better to have some idea about the subject in case you get called out for it.

yeah hes just one of the ones who is jealous. there are so many pre orders without advertising thats just with enthuisats. wait till peop;e hear that the v6 gets 20 and 28 and still pushes 304 HP and base price is 22 thousand cmon guy do the math i bet your smart catr cost tht much

GM cant be doing that bad 20k preorders at (we'll say at least 22,000dollars)) you do the math

When are you people going to realize that hybrids are a disaster waiting to happen. they have hybrid technology on public transit and look how many buses break down. Grow some...live life like it was your last day on earth. OH BY THE WAY YOU GET JUST AS GOOD GAS MILEAGE FROM A 4 CYL. AS A HYBRID WITHOUT THE WORRY OF BATTERIES DYING ON YOU AND COSTING THOUSANDS TO REPLACE.

It is what you get when you bash something with an enthusiast community the size of the one Camaro has. You should have known better. Stupid girl...

This has to be a publicity stunt to get traffic. 'If i diss the Camaro i will get 20,000 hits!' Yea this is one of those Prius,Camry,Accord losers who always questions the National deficit but sends money overseas. Either that or he/she just tried to order the Camaro and realized that he/she is order number 30k and won't get it until next year & got his/her panties all in a bunch. Get a real job, better yet get a real car.

Generally I think your blog is on the mark, however I think you missed the point of the new Camaro. Remember that Baby Boomers are large part of the economy and this retro styled car will appeal to them, their children are out of the house and they nolonger need the mini-vans and suv's that they purchased in the 90's. Other than celebrates and other early adopters, hybrids have not appealed to the masses. GM has a winner with the v6 Camaro that will get 27 MPG and be fun to drive.

"Who is going to buy this car?"
A little over 20,000 people are going to buy it plus even more when the car is actually advertised.

My question to you is; "Why would someone make a classic Muscle car a Hybrid?" That would take away from the Muscle and add P*ssy to it.

I'll leave it at that since I was also the 2nd Comment on here... just read that one also.

Do the everyone a favor and drive your Hybrid off a cliff
    February 22, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterUndrcop2010
Did you do ANY research before you made your profound statement? I'll bet not. I can also bet that you should make this your "Dumb Move of the Day" for the next year! If you did this for the traffic it might generate then, maybe you are wise. BUT I highly doubt that.

Now go drive your MEERKAT mobile home. It probably gets better gas mileage. HAHAHA!

Seems to me you NEED to visit Camaro5.com and you'll learn the real meaning of the words you profess.

Do you have any idea how much pent up demand there is for this car? It gets better gas milage than most of the little jelly bean cars that the "California Delagation" wants to force GM to build more of. If you think hybrids and electric cars are the solution you are incorrect. Who is going to want to pay $9000 for a new battery for one of these cars after about 80,000 miles? They will just junk the car....causing more pollution in out system. If they replace the battery do the math....its ads up to 89 cents a mile just for the battery. Add the other mechanical factors in that cost money on any car and you might figure out that driving a Camaro with a V8 in it is much cheaper (and more fun) over the long run than something you have to plug in when you get home (while its raining, snowing, blowing etc). And consumers are NOT going to like plugging and unplugging in their car every time they use it. Some of you eco nuts are going to run out and buy these expensive electric cars when they first come out huh? You might be better off buying stock in a junkyard that they're going to end up in.

    February 22, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterThe Masses
Wow, posting without a clue as to what your talking about. 20k preorders (without advertising), a V6 with 304hp at EPA 27mpg (which actually does higher) with a base price of $22k...

I think I hear your prius' battery choke. If you want more information Camaro5.com is the place.

Absolutely clueless this little gnat. That Hollister or Abercrombie T shirt you wear? Take a step back into the 70's...There is ALOT of stuff you wear, listen to and see that is 70's and 80's influenced. Either you are too blind to notice it or extremely naieve in your pathetic opinion about the Camaro.

Don't be hatin' on your girlfriends when I pick them up in my new IOM 2SS with WRS, W1H AYH, VYV with a 6 speed.
